Last week the Ivanhoe Garden Club community came together to celebrate our 120th anniversary. We are one of the oldest clubs in the country and 120 continuous years is worthy of a significant celebration.

This special evening for members involved a number of special guests from other garden clubs and representatives from Garden Clubs of Australia. Our special guest speaker was Vasili Kanidiadis, host of ‘Vasili’s Garden’.

Entertainment included a string ensemble performance by students from Ivanhoe Primary School. There is a special link between the school and the club as our first meeting, in 1906, was held at the school.

We had a very successful raffle with wonderful prizes, a tasty catered supper, and a beautiful, decorated cake. A historical display was created for the night and the quilt created for our 100th year and a new colorful banner were also a features of the room.

Club members made flower arrangements for all of the tables and special arrangements were created as decoration and gifts.

It was a truly wonderful evening with a fantastic community feel.  Many people were involved in bringing the night together and they are to be congratulated on a job well done.

The following photos give a flavour of the evening.
